Island Tour Bus Traffic Hits the Skids
Buses on ferries off 44% in 10 years and there's no sign of a comeback…
Tour bus traffic to Vancouver Island has dropped 44 per cent in the last 10 years and shows no sign of bouncing back, says hospitality industry consultant Frank Bourree.
Bourree, principal of Chemistry Consulting, said tourism businesses that rely on tour bus traffic will likely have to broaden their target markets to survive.
"It has to do with the U.S. market and changing demographics," he said. "B.C. Ferries used to get so many buses that it became a problem. They never have that problem anymore."
